Loneliness can lead to crisis. Have you got a couple of hours each week you could spare to support someone in our community? We are looking for people in and around the Much Wenlock and Cressage area who may be able to use a little of their spare time each week to help a frail or vulnerable person to maintain their links within our community, by phoning for a chat on a regular basis or accompanying them to the shops. Full training and support will be provided and you will be making a real difference for someone in your community.
Interested? Then please contact Paul Cronin at the Severn Hospice on 01743 261513 or at paulcronin@severnhospice.org.uk;
COMMUNITY CARE CO ORDINATOR ROLE: From 1.10.12 the Practice is taking part in a pilot scheme commissioned by the Clinical Commissioning Group to try and develop a link to co ordinate support offered within the community from the voluntary sector in partnership with the Practice. A current member of staff, Christine DeSouza, has been appointed in this role and will receive referrals from the GP's for patients they feel would benefit from signposting to community support.
If you lead or are part of a supportive community group please contact the surgery with details of who you support, the services you can offer and how people can contact you as Christine will be setting up a database with local as well as national support group information to help direct people in need to the appropriate support group.
Much Wenlock and Cressage Patients' Voice - The Group meets every other month at the Surgery in an evening, its aim is to encourage communication between patients and the Practice and aid the Practice in its objective to continually improve the service provided to the patient population. The group is happy to welcome new members, particularly those of a working age or with young families.
